The pride Month - June 2023

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is a month-long celebration that honors the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) community. It is celebrated during the month of June every year.

LGBTQ+ Pride Month originated to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, which sparked the modern pride movement and was led by LGBTQ+ individuals who were fighting for their rights and protections under the law.

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ+ community in response to a police raid of the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in Greenwich Village.

The riots represented a turning point for the LGBTQ+ community, and the first Pride parades (originally called "Gay Pride" marches) were held in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago on the first anniversary of the Stonewall riots, on June 28, 1970.

Today, LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated around the world with parades, events, and festivals that celebrate the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.
